Integration Plan

Integration Plan

Topic: Resistor Color Codes
Grade Level: 1st year
Teacher: Michael Mingo
School: CITE Technical Institute

I. OBJECTIVES:

Given various activities using integration of technology, the students with 90% accuracy are expected to do the following:

1. Learn how to use and read the color code chart.
2. Memorize the resistor color code with its corresponding value.
3. Identify resistor values and tolerances from the color code chart.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

1. Topic: Resistor Color Codes
2. Concept: Color coding as means of indicating resistance value of a resistor.
3. Skills: Read color code chart, Memorize color code values.

III. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:

A. References:

B. Scaffolds:

1. Video Clips        3. Pictures
2. Charts                 4. Realias

IV. PROCEDURE:

A. Introduction

1. The teacher shows a picture on the board and ask questions:

Teacher’s Questions                                                   Students answers

1. What do you see in the board?                             Answer: Resistors
2. What do you notice in the resistors body?           Answer: It has color strips
3. What are those color strips?                                 Answer: Color codes

2. The teacher provide the student a video about resistor color codes.

3. The teacher will discuss and elaborate the video and show to the students the Color code chart.

5. The teacher will introduce the mnemonics to memorize the color coding chart.

Big boys race our young girls but Violet generally wins

6. The teacher will use the E-learning Laboratory for the students to browse about the Resistor Color Code Description.

7. The Teacher will let the students take the Resistor Color Code Recognition Drill and Resistor Color Code Practice exam.

V. EVALUATION:

Test I
Associate each of the following digits with its respective color. Write your answer at the space provided before the number.

____1. Blue                        a. 5
____2. Green                     b. 2
____3. Red                         c. 3
____4. Orange                   d. 6
____5. Brown                     e. 1

Test II.
Determine the nominal resistance values of these resistors, given their band colors, and also express the allowable tolerance in ohms.
For example, a 25 kΩ resistor with a 10% tolerance rating would have an allowable tolerance of +/- 2.5 kΩ.
